Madam C.J. Walker, a NATURAL QUEEN!
During Black History Month I see it fit to shine a light on the melanated heroes. Towards the top of the list is Madam C.J. Walker. She was a stupendous entrepreneur and social activist. Her dedication to her cosmetics business made her the wealthiest self-made woman in America. I admire how hard she worked and the amazing amount of strength she showed in the midst of adversity as it pertains to American society. In the early 1900s African-Americans weren't considered for anything but the condescending cotton business. She was able to encourage and inspire black women to have confidence in their own hair, and that they were just as capable of building their own business as the next person. I definitely take her legacy with me throughout the process of building Two and Fro. Her quote, “I had to make my own living and my own opportunity. But I made it! Don’t sit down and wait for the opportunities to come. Get up and make them.”, speaks volumes. It shows you must break down walls to build your own path, and with that path you can reach your destiny while leading others.
